Interview Waivers for Children Under 7 Years of Age

On May 11, 2012, the VFS issued a new guideline for the interview process applicable to children under 7 years of age.  According to the VFS :

Children under 7 years of age are not required to appear for a nonimmigrant visa interview at any Post in India. Such applicants may submit their visa applications through VFS. All other rules, requirements and fees for those under 7 years of age remain in effect. All applicants must include the following documents when submitting their applications:

The applicant's valid passport

A completed DS-160 application barcode

One 2" x 2" photograph that meets specifications; and

An HDFC visa fee receipt (with both pink and blue copies) for the current visa application fee

Note: Parents/guardians may also consider submitting the following documents: the parents’ U.S. visa numbers, information about the purpose of the visit and those to be visited in the U.S., and evidence of the applicant's ties to India. Visa issuance for those not appearing in person is not guaranteed. The Embassy/Consulate may in some cases, after reviewing an application, require the child to appear in person.

Hi,

Hi,

My husband got H1B approved in July'12 and is in USA since one month. He received his one paystub.

Kindly let me know how many paystubs are required to file H4 visa application.

Can he apply for me and my daughters H4 visa application after three - four paystubs or we need to wait for 6 months paystubs.

Also let us know whether it is compulsory to submit my husbands  IT returns W-2 form.

@ Ash,

@ Ash,

3-4 Month pay stub is sufficient. As you said that your husband reached USA recently so he can't have W2 till Dec 2012. You are not required to wait for W2. You should bring your husband's 2 Yr IT return (Indian).

Thank You so much dear .....

Hello Admin,

Hello Admin,

Aplogize for the late reply. But taught that posting my experience will help some one like me.

My wife tried for F2 visa for a couple of times and got denied. After my H1B got approved she went for H4 visa and got it approved. But very soon we had a baby and i had a lot of questions in my mind whether to book a visa slot and send my wife again for the visa interview. When i contacted the VFS centre they told me that i cannot book a slot for my daughther and was advised to submit the application through drop box.

I have applied for my daughther's visa using drop box at hyderabad consulate and received it in three days. I have submitted the below documents.

1) copy of my I797

2) Letter Addressed to consulate (This was issued by my employer requesting visa for my dependent's)

3) Visa Fee receipt from Axis Bank

4) DS-160 Confirmation Page.

5) My and my spouse Visa Document.

6) Photograph as per the specifications.

That's it they have processed the visa in three days and sent an email to pick up the passport.

If anyone of you need help let me know and i shall try to help you.

Regards,

Raj

Hai Raj,

Hai Raj,

I am single parent on  H1B and am in the process of  applying H4 for my son who is 5 yrs. So as per the new procedure the visa interview is waived and i have to submit the documents in the

drop off location.I came across your post when i researching on the supporting documents

to be submitted. You have mentioned that you submitted your visa documents apart from

I-797. Can you please be specific on what visa documents?. You response would be highly appreciated

Thanks

Ashwini

Hello Ashwini,

Hello Ashwini,

Below are the documents you need for your child's visa.

1) your husband's I797

2) if you have any I797 that too or ignore this.

3) Your visa copy and your husband's Visa copy,

4) employer letter or offer letter from your husband's company,

5) Visa Fee receipt.

6) Photographs as per the requirement.

That's it. If you have all of these you can apply for your kid's visa.

If your visa is expired then you can book a slot together and Carry your daughter with you for the interview.

Let me know if you need any more help

Thanks,

Raj

Hello Ashwini,

Hello Ashwini,

As far as i remember I have not submitted LCA and I-129  these are not required for your child's visa.

But if you have any doubts carry them with you to drop off location. The representative will verify and give it back to you incase it is not needed.

In my previous post i have given you the list of documents. Those are compulsory. Please include DS 160 confirmation page and orginal passport to my previous list.

Let me know if you have any other question

hi,  I had been in US on H4

hi,  I had been in US on H4 visa and came to India last year.  One of the consultant in US applied H1B for me last year. it got rejected a month ago.  I used to see the status of my visa through tracking Id which was the only information that my consultant had given to me.  Other than tracking id, he did not show me any document about my application or any document sent by US consulate to him. After the visa got rejected, i asked for the document to know about the reason for rejection.  He said he cannot sent the document to me.  I am not sure whether he applied for me or not,  I paid him $3000 for visa process.  How do i get to know about the details.  Can i directly ask US consulate for my visa application documents. can i ask him to get me back my fees.

I appreciate your valuable suggestions.

 Submited the documents : 16.Sep.2013Received the passport  : 20.Sep.2013

I have a valid H1B visa and I wanted to get H4 visa for Kid (7 months old).I browse thru internet and found that I don't need to travel to consulate with the  kid for the interview.Children under 14 years can use the drop box facility available  across India ; no need for them to be interviewed. I confirmed this information with  the consulate by writing them an email. The rest of the procedures remain the same.

Fill up the DS 160 form - Pay the visa fee - walk in to the drop box center with the  required documents

I choose to drop my documents in Bangalore. The office is close to MG road and Shivaji  nagar bus stand.Popular landmark is the Empire hotel which is just opposite to the  building where you need to drop your documents. This particular office is in the 3rd  Level. There's a booth to take the photograph and photo copies at the same building  just in case you need it

Hi Magesh,

Hi Magesh,

Thanks for your time in sharing your experience. I have H1B visa till 2015 and my wife has H4 visa. I am still in India due to some reasons and planning to go to US in 2 months. We had baby recently. Do we need to submit any payslips from US employer ? In this case what kind of documents we need to submit in vfs center?

Thanks,

Hey Visu,

Hey Visu,

Send all your current papers and hopefully you should get the H4 visa for the child with no problem.

I don't think the parent needs to drop it off personally.

Hi,

Hi,

My wife, son(3 year old) and mine visa got expired in November 2013. Now my wife and son are in india and I am planning to use DropBox facility for them.  But as my visa is expired, are they still eligible for visa waiver program? In USCIS site,  i see below eligibiliity statement.

All applicants must include the following documents when submitting their applications:

  1. Applicant's current and all old passports
  2. A completed DS-160 confirmation page.
  3. A visa fee receipt for the current visa application .
  4. For child below 14 years of age a valid visa copy of the same visa category of either of the parents.

For point 4, my and my wife visa already expired but wife is applying through visa waiver program. Is that fine?
